Ok, I’m a little late posting today. Perhaps that’s because hubby was here:
Yes, he was watching the Binghamton Senators live as they won game 5 of the Calder Cup. 1 more win & they’ve got it! And so I was at home with the little monkeys doing various things that didn’t include updating the blog.
This week has been great for spinning. I finally finished my Cupcake Fiber Company batts (Cobalt colour, 85% BFL/15% silk). After washing, I’ve ended up with a respectable 800 yards of 2 ply in 170 grams, with a wpi somewhere around 18 or 19. It’s a nice rich blue with a bit of a shine and I love it.
I also finished off the sample fiber that came with the lovely Golding spindle Joan surprised me with. I’ve got a little natural wool skein that’s about 73 yards of 3 ply in 50 grams with about 10 wpi. It turns out that I can spin on a heavier spindle!
Oh, and then because I wasn’t feeling like stopping, I spun up the Lampyridae batt I won from the Phat Fiber blog. Here’s a before & after:
It’s a 137 yard skein (2 ply) weighing 40 grams. It’s sparkly and it’s not exactly my colour, but I have a feeling it’ll go nicely with something else. I’m not sure about that yet.
Don’t worry, I still haven’t set down my spindle(s). I’ve started a gorgeous purple merino/cashmere braid from Turtlepurl. I may be at it for a while because I’m pleasantly stunned at how skinny I’m spinning it.
Oh, the color of that Cobalt Cupcake is stunning! So are the others, but that one really struck me.
Wonderful spinning!
The blue is really wonderful
