Here are some highlights of the Kitchener-Waterloo Knitters’ Guild Fair this past weekend:
- accosting a tiara-wearing Sandi Wiseheart (really!)
- making Anne Hanson laugh with my “hit myself in the head with a rake” story (there’s a reason Louise keeps bringing that story up)
- watching just about every knitter who passed the Sheeps Ahoy booth fall prey to the beauty of the Hibiscus sample
- meeting Deshi, who knew what the Strand of Pearls sample was because she owns it
- meeting Heather, who did a great job of blogging the fair
- lots of time talking with knitters about all kinds of knitting things
- seeing tons of yarns in person (especially the Zen Yarn Garden and Indigodragonfly booths)
Observations:
- not everyone at a knitting fair looks happy, but most of them do
- shoes that are comfortable at a sedentary day job may not work for a day of standing
My haul:
- a spindle bag from Zig Zag Stitches (a birthday present from my parents)
- a skein of merino-silk lace from Indigodragonfly in one of my favourite greens with a colourway name referencing one of my favourite movies (never go up against a Sicilian when death is on the line!)
- a skein of lace with bison
- a lovely merino/silk braid from Sericin Silkworks
- a 4oz bag of BFL/Shetland/llama pin-drafted roving from Hopeful Shetlands, which I’m going to try to spin a little thicker than my default yarn
- a 6oz rope of BFL from Briar Rose, acquired from the very tempting Shall We Knit booth
And now I’ll go back to madly knitting on my due-at-the-end-of-the-month poppy shawl. All is looking well, it’s just that I still have much to knit!
What a wonderful haul! I’m so glad you had a good time. Now get back to knitting!
