Last week I took a trip with Francine to Almonte to do a photo shoot for an upcoming design. I can’t show you the knitting, but I can show you some of what I saw. We went to the Mississippi Valley Textile Museum. It is housed in what was the Rosamond Woolen Company. We had a nice chat with Jill, a volunteer at the museum.
I love the building, with its beautiful stained glass windows:
And then there are the original pressed tin ceilings in the front offices:
They’re quite a contrast to the ceilings in the working area of the mill:
And if you look through the window you can see a the sister building to the museum, giving you an idea of the outside of this place.
There were also a couple of volunteers working away on a 100 inch loom. Here are Jean & Gertrude (well, their hands anyway) weaving using an overshot technique. They’re working on an item that’ll help raise money for the museum.
Then on Saturday I had another knitting outing. I don’t always get on Twitter, but sometimes it pays to be online. I saw @AnnieBeeKnits (who blogs over here) mention that she was in Ottawa for a conference, so I quickly inquired if she had any spare time. As a result, she & I made a trip to Yarn Forward in Kanata where Francine got her Chawton Mittens page autographed in in her copy of Jane Austen Knits. Yay!
(pardon the rather bizarre look on my face)

I think the look on your face is I’m smug because I got to meet another blogger and go to a yarn shop and you didn’t.
What a great week indeed! I agree with kmkat, you do have a look that says “I am all funned up!” Can’t wait to hear more of your details, sounds like a thing or two that has yet to be revealed!
Looks like a great outing! Makes me want to visit Ottawa, it’s been soooo long.
