Saturday spinning update: plying

I’ve managed to make a little bit of yarn this week. I have two skeins to show and a bobbin full of skinny singles that might get turned into yarn for next week.

First, here’s something that I got for Christmas. It looked like this:

But then when it was on the bobbin, it looked like this:

As you can see on the niddy noddy, it’s going to stripe up a fair bit.

Here’s the bouncy 50 gram skein:

And then in other slightly more boring news, here’s some merino that I spun:

It’s fairly fuzzy and had a whole lot of VM, most of which I think I picked out. And then I took it and chain-plied for 77 grams of fuzzy yarn. Yardage to be determined after washing. Given the sheepiness of this stuff, I’m expecting the water to be a little brown on washing. I’m hoping it comes up nicely.

On deck for next week is a very full bobbin of singles from an Into The Whirled Falkland Batt. It’s going to be a lovely chain-plied yarn going from grey to dark purple.

    did you navajo/chain ply that schoppelwolle ? It all looks wonderful. I’ll be interested to see how the Falklands turns out.
