Saturday spinning update: plied!

I had a whole bobbin full of singles from an Into The Whirled Falkland batt last week. This week I managed to chain ply it for another lovely colour-changing skein. Here it is wound up after washing:

And re-skeined, it’s a happy 600 yard skein (~125 grams):

I don’t know what the next week of spinning will involve, but I’m very pleased with this skein. If only I had the right idea to knit…

My son has come up with another collection. This time it’s all white: a disassembled plastic fork and a wad of sticky tack. Unfortunately this collection didn’t come to light until I was taking things out of the washer and putting them in the dryer. His pocket may still contain some Sticky Tack residue.

Your spinning skill just blows me away! Speaking of unintentional washing, when Bill was with the World Bank and working on India (i.e. travelling there a lot), he left some rupees in his pocket, which accidentally got laundered with some sheets when he got back home. Yes, laundered money, ha, ha. Turns out though that rupees aren’t colourfast–and they’re orange. We still have a sheet with big orange splotches on it.
