We have a winner!

I gathered all the limerick contest entrants from the blog comments, the Ravelry group & Twitter and put everyone in a spreadsheet. I used random.org to generate an appropriate winner and the lucky entrant (at the very end!) was Rachelle, who posted this gem to the Ravelry group:

There once was a girl from Regina (ohh this is gonna be good :) )
who had a bad case of angina (and the crowd boos)
her sister had one wish
to marry an Irish
wait a minute, she doesn’t have a sister.

There’s no time to explain, but to sum it up, Rachelle (aka Graemeandnora) is one of the ladies I usually see at knitting on Thursday nights. One evening as she tried to recount a particularly funny story, she said, “my sister, wait a minute, I don’t have a sister.” This wasn’t supposed to be part of the story, she just misspoke. I was laughing so hard that I needed a couple of kleenex to mop up my tears. Rachelle’s sister comes up fairly frequently in conversation at knit night now.

Rachelle gets the lovely green skein of Indigodragonfly Merino Silk Lace, lucky penny stitch markers from Francine, and the Clover Shawl pattern.

Thank you all for playing along and humouring me!

Here are a couple more limericks that amused me because I’m such a fan of The Princess Bride:

From Jenn:

As you wish. ;) A limerick is achievable.
Green yarn, lucky charms; unbelievable.
And with Irish pride,
I am bursting inside,
If I won, it would be _inconceivable_!

And from Chelsea:

There’s such a thing as knitter’s amnesia
Where nothing but new yarn will please ya.
And though your memory may go,
this one thing you know:
Don’t get involved in a land war in Asia!

I’ll send you two a copy of the Clover Shawl.

That’s so funny! Congrats to Rachelle! I’ve misspoke like that before and it sure makes me wonder about my sanity, or rather, what others must think about it :-)
