Surprise!
I’ve got a little treat for you. I’ve been working on this simple reversible scarf/cowl pattern for what seems like far too long and I’m sharing it with you, my readers, for free until the end of October. Just go on over to the Wrapped Ribs pattern page, select the “buy it now” link, and then select the “use a coupon code” link in the lower left part of the pop-up window. When you enter STAYWARM, the price will go to $0!
Wrapped Ribs is just the thing to work up for a gift. I think it’ll be my teacher gift this year.
I made the first cowl in Indigodragonfly’s super soft and cozy Yak! Bam! in a green that is just my kind of colour. That’s about 170 yards (50g) of fingering weight, for anyone keeping count.
And then I used Turtlepurl’s excellent Softshell Turtle worsted in True Blood to make a gorgeous scarf. That’s around 400 yds (~200g) of worsted weight yarn.
And because I wasn’t finished with this yet, I also worked up a cowl in Manos del Uruguay Maxima. That took around 175yds (~80g) of worsted weight yarn. Yes, it’s green. Nobody’s shocked, right?
The pattern includes instructions for a tubular cast on and bind off and a little advice for changing up the size of the pattern of the weight of the yarn. Why limit yourself to what’s already been knit? Have fun with it. After Hallowe’en the coupon code will expire & you’ll have to pay $3. Act now!
As usual, my deepest thanks go to Francine (who blogs here) for being a wonderful model.
Very pretty–both the scarf and the model. Maybe I’ll make one in my just-spun merino/silk (still drying in the sunroom).
Thanks, Natalie!
Love it!
