A weekend with friends

Almost two weeks ago I went to Gananoque for the Needlers’ Retreat. Here’s what it looked like when I showed up:

It’s a relaxing place.

On Friday night everyone gathered upstairs for a chat. I see some of these folks weekly, and others only once a year at the retreat. It’s great to meet up and catch up and see what everyone has been up to.

We had 3 wonderful teachers: Lucy Neatby, Suzanne Atkinson and my friend (and model/agent/stylist) Francine Hebert. Francine did a class on knitting with wire & this beaded bracelet is what I came away with:

And here’s what things looked like on Saturday outside. So very peaceful.

I had a wonderful time again and left refreshed and full of great ideas. I may have also come away with some yarn, but I did manage to sell some of my handspun, which means that overall I am moving in the direction of less yarn. Stop laughing!

Oh, that’s right. I did pick up some more fluff to spin from Robin from her own sheepies. I’ll have to see if I can spin up some of the Shetland, Jacob & Shropshire before the next retreat and maybe even knit it up into something.

Lucy Neatby was the teacher at the knitting retreat I went to last month. She is Teh Awesome!

  3. I will admit that I love the look of the St. Lawrence River here at this time of year. You see the occasional loon (or loony swimmers, as we saw this year). But overall, the water is so calm – like glass. It’s a perfect muse for sitting and knitting and pondering what to put on the needles next.
