2012 Spinning in review

I’ve had a lot of fun spinning this year, and today I’ve spent some time looking back to see exactly what I did. I spun a wider range of fibers than before: Merino, Falkland, Rayon, Corriedale, Cashmere, Jacob, Targhee, Romney, BFL, Shetland, Silk, Polwarth, and Mohair.  I made over 20 miles (33km) of singles, and more than 8 miles (13.5km) of finished yarn. I tried to do more than my default skinny skinny singles and I ended up with some bulky yarns. I did a true 6 ply. I learned a lot.

I won’t be actively looking for Corriedale, Romney, or rayon blends to spin. They’re not what I enjoy working with. I still love silk and merino. I’m looking forward to spinning some of the other breed-specific samples I’ve got stashed away (like the Manx-Laoughtan). I still have some clean Cotswold locks to spin up and I don’t want to forget about that experiment.

Here’s a look at what I’ve done this year:

    Wow!

Look at you! You’ve done so much this year! Not to mention the designing, knitting and moving house! I’m so proud you and can’t wait to see what you come with next year.
