I’ve managed to spin up the second half of the beautiful copper-coloured silk from Briar Rose. It took ages because I’m spinning thin singles. So far so good!
Now I’ve got to spend a few hours plying before I find out what the final yarn is like. I’m in the nervous stage where I don’t know if the bobbins are even enough or if the singles are consistent. I can’t wait to find out how this all turns out.
My big discovery in this week’s spinning came out of desperation. For the second half of the fiber, I split it lengthwise in quarters. The little fibers wanted to stick to everything they touched. I hit upon the idea of putting it in a ziploc bag which I held under one arm. No more silk fibers everywhere. Perfect!
