Sunday spinning update: a new skein

I took a break from spinning for a couple of weeks. It wasn’t intentional, but I’ve been busy with a variety of things. At the end of this week I finally finished up the third bobbin of merino/silk from Southern Cross Fibre.

I plied the 3 bobbins (and it worked out almost exactly!), and now I’ve got a warm and shiny skein of yarn that is about 300 yards long and 111g.

I’ll have to come up with a new spinning project so that I get at least one more skein in this year. My thumb cramped up badly trying to finish the last bobbin because my hand just didn’t seem to remember what to do for the first 10 minutes.

This weekend we had a blast going to the new recreation centre to check things out. There were these lovely fox sculptures outside:

Inside the gym it was pandemonium. We ended up playing for a lot longer than we intended. I think we’re likely to have a birthday party here in the not-so-distant future.

Lovely yarn! Thanks for making me remember the hank of yarn on the sofa that needs counting. /sigh

Love the fox and the little white sock feet!
