A little bit of Christmas knitting

I blame The Rainey Sisters blog post for my latest project. Susan blogged about making ornaments from the “Balls Up!” pattern on Ravelry. I took my Michaels coupon & managed to find some styrofoam balls. Then I located my sock yarn remnants and some bamboo DPNs and got to work.

Apparently even on 2mm needles I knit loosely, so I left out some rows and increases in this pattern. Also I left off doing i-cord for the loop & just did a little crochet loop. It’s untidy, but I can do better next time. I’ve only managed the one decoration so far, but I’ve got more styrofoam to play with. Who knows what could happen in the next 2 weeks?

I must remember the Yarn Harlot’s advice in a recent post, though. Instead of striving for the perfect Christmas celebration/napkins/cookies/whatever, “Go knit instead.  You’ll be happier.”

Here’s a quick shot of my exciting secret project in progress:

Remind me not to pitch any more design ideas that involve black lace weight, ok?
