Saturday knitting update: Embers

My friend Louise took me up on my offer to spin for her at some point. I was foolish not to get a before picture, but this started as a braid of Superfine Merino from Turtlepurl in a colour called Embers. I split it roughly into quarters and spun the singles onto four bobbins, then plied with my lazy kate + box lazy kate. It was overplied. I wasn’t happy, but I couldn’t address it until today because my back has been acting up this week. Arrgh. I ran it through in the opposite direction this morning to take out a little bit of the twist. Here’s the finished skein: That’s better. It’s about 180 yards in somewhere over 100g. I hope Louise likes it!

For your additional viewing pleasure from the children this week, I bring you the Titanic as executed in PlayDoh by my daughter. She took inspiration from the postcard from Nannie:

I love the colourway of that skein, and how all the different colours blend and twist together. Beautiful. :) You make me want to keep practising with my spindle! (I have gotten side tracked by a gezillion babies about to be born and needing knitted baby gifts.)
