Folks, I’m finally going to show you a little bit of a special design that you’ll see more of very very soon. Remember last year when Francine & I went off to Almonte to the Textile Museum? I showed you the museum, but not the knitting. Now I can finally tell you that it’ll be out soon in What (else) Would Madame Defarge Knit?
Here’s a little preview of my contribution:
Yes, it’s lace. And yes, it’s black. Black lace may require good lighting for the knitting, but the effect is worth it! Of course I’ve also knit the pattern in bright pink & bright yellow and those items have seen a fair bit of use. I can’t tell you much about the character that this design is based on, but she’s dear to my heart. I’ve also found that I read the book quite differently now that I’m a mother.
I’ve got some more lovely shots of Francine to show you, but that will have to wait. For now take a look at her hair. She put so much thought into her look, the outfit and her knitting props.
I’m so excited to see the book, which, just like the first one, has tons of interesting patterns and essays. It’s over 250 pages long and has colour photos. I can’t wait to have one in my hands.
